Back to School

It's hard to believe that summer vacation has come to an end. Today was an exciting day as Ethan started the VPK program and Jillian started her second year of preschool with an increase to 2 days per week. They were both tentative when I dropped them off, but came bouncing towards me as I walked in the door to pick them up! Ethan made a few new friends and was happy to have a couple of familiar faces in his class. The excitement of the day for him was using medicine droppers with different colored liquids and trying to predict what colors would be made by mixing them. A little scientist in the making. Jillian's "best part of the day" was a form of fingerpainting where they create a picture only dipping the tips of their fingers in the paint and mixing colors on paper. Her class is mostly the same kids as the summer and last year. She claims the only new addition goes by the name of "poopoo", but I am skeptical. We are so happy that they are off to such a positive start and all love their teachers!

Ft. Myers Beach

Last week we spent 2 great days in Ft. Myers Beach with one of my best friends, Christine. The kids loved seeing her as it had been a year since they last saw her and they sure made her play hard! As usual the kids loved the hotel and were especially amused by our balcony overlooking the gulf! They spent a lot of time out there. We swam in the pool, ate good food, looked for shells and found 2 sand dollars in the gulf, walked on a long fishing pier and of course ate ice cream! Christine joined our daily tradition by playing a game of Candyland, which Ethan and Jillian are currently obsessed with. It was a wonderful last trip to end the summer. Next week Ethan starts VPK and Jillian is excited to add a day with her friends. They will both go Tuesday and Thursday 8a-4p. They are growing up so fast!

Under the Sea

As Sebastian in The Little Mermaid sings, "Darling it's better down where it's wetter. Take it from me!" Ethan and Jillian couldn't agree more. They continue to live in the pool this summer and as incentive to get them staying under the water I bought an under water camera for some fun shots. Poppy joined in the fun and made it a game. Ethan loved waving, and swimming comes so naturally for Jillian you can see her gliding with a smile for the camera!

Wave Runners

Last weekend Ethan had his first wave runner experience and he really enjoyed it! Since Mia and Poppy are likely selling these toys soon we thought it might be fun to give the kids a little ride at the park across the street from their house on Lake Tarpon. To our surprise Jillian decided she did not want to get on, but Ethan went right for it! He was very proud that Mia let him steer all by himself. Afterwards Poppy and I took them out for a spin and the kids got a good laugh out of Poppy spraying me from his! I forgot how much fun they really are!
